Peppermint Bark

This tasty peppermint treat makes a great and festive neighbor gift for Christmas.

Total Time: 10 minutes, not including cooling time.

Ingredients: 

1 pound (16 oz.) chocolate bars, chopped

1 pound (16 oz.) white chocolate bars, chopped

1 1/2 t. peppermint extract

crushed candy canes or peppermint candies for topping

Directions:

Place parchment paper in a rimmed baking sheet and set aside.  

Place semi sweet chocolate in a microwaveable safe bowl.  Melt at 15-30 second intervals at 50 % power, stirring between each interval until melted.  Stir in   3/4 t. peppermint extract.  Spread onto parchment to desired thickness.  Place in refrigerator for 30 minutes, until set.  

Place white chocolate in microwaveable safe bowl.  Melt at 15-30 second intervals at 50% power, stirring between each interval until melted.  Stir in 3/4 t. peppermint extract.  Spread over cooled chocolate layer and sprinkle with crushed peppermint candies.  Let cool completely before breaking into pieces.
