Ingredients:

1 (5 lb) bag of potatoes (russet or red)

1/2-3/4 cup (1-1 1/2 sticks) butter

1-2 teaspoons kosher salt

1/2-3/4 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper

1/4 cup - 1/2 cup milk

Directions:

Peel potatoes.  Cut potatoes into approximately equal 1 inch cubes.  Place potato cubes in a large pot and fill with water until the potatoes are covered with water.  Place pot on stove over medium heat.  Heat until boiling, then reduce heat slightly and cook until potatoes are tender 20-40 minutes.  You should be able to cut through it easily with the side of a fork or butter knife.  Drain potatoes and put in a mixing bowl.

Add butter, salt and pepper to potatoes.  Mix well with mixer or hand masher.  Add milk, a little at a time until potatoes are desired consistency.  Serve warm.
